Danny Arenas was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Son of Cuban parents. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Florida International University and in 2015 received a Masters in Social Work at Hunter University. After living in Miami, Florida for a number of years he moved to New York in 2009 with great enthusiasm to photograph there. Photography motivates him to walk and walking motivates him to photograph. It's only when he tunes in to the faces, the way someone moves, expresses themselves, carries themselves, the movement of the streets, the anticipation of a gesture, these are the situations he enjoys. Photography is a harmless endeavor that provides true enjoyment when you the photographer are able to get out of yourself and see the world without pre conceptions but to react. I think back to what Garry Winogrand said about photography- It's the time i come closest to non existing.
